You know what? Here I am. All of me. You can like me or not - your choice.
There’s a person behind this blog. If you choose to leave a rude or mean comment, you need to keep in mind that someone actually reads it and takes it to heart.
So, I have a thing about being on time. Or doing what you say you’re going to do when you say you’re going to do it. That’s called courtesy. Manners. You know, the “old school” of considerational thought. I don’t see a problem with that. And if anyone decides that because it bugs me when someone doesn't follow through or shows up late without a call or explanation, that they don’t want to be my friend anymore... well, there’s the door.
I get close to people very easily and very quickly. Please, don't break my heart.
I don’t “divorce” my friends when they cut their fingernails or toenails in front of me, even though the sound drives me nuts and literally makes me nauseated. I don’t give them the boot when they whistle continuously. I just grind my teeth. Diamonds aren’t my best friend.
I'm somewhat shy at first, but once you get to know me, conversation comes easily. I love being fun and crazy, like going to an amusement park, or being a bit childish and going to Chuck E. Cheese's to play games, or just hanging around the house all day watching movies.
It does matter to me if you show up habitually late when we have plans. Once in a while because, you know, the cat threw up or the water heater burst or you woke up late – that’s fine. But if you're constantly late without regard to the people who are waiting for you (and without a call)... I have a problem with that.
I cannot tolerate anybody making rude or mean comments about anybody else - not gay jokes, not fat jokes, especially not racial slurs. No one person is any better or any worse than anybody else. I’ve spent my entire life being made fun of and being shoved to the side because of who I am. I won’t let anyone do that to anybody else.
I believe in random acts of kindness, and actually doing them. I don’t expect a pat on the back for it. I just want other people to do the same for someone else.
I’m a Democrat. I’m Pro-Choice. I have Fibromyalgia. I drive an automatic. (Just thought I’d throw that in there to throw you all off.) I love it when wait staff come over to me in a restaurant to sing “Happy Birthday”. I'm transitioning into being a vegan, can’t stand rap music, and speak 6 languages, but 3 aren’t real.
So there I am. In a very small, very cramped nutshell. Most of you, I’m sure, will stick around. The die-hards. The favorites. The family. The rest of you... well, if you leave, all I have to say is that I’m sorry for you that you can’t take me as I am.
I will not pretend to be someone else ever again. I will not compromise my character or my principles.
I am who I am. I like who I am, quirks and all.
